Peter Doig No Foreign Lands - Reviews and paintings in the exhibition: ‘…Doig’s new show at the Scottish National Gallery, proves that his exploration of visual delight is a queasier, more elusive, historically fraught affair than it at first seemed.’ - Jackie Wullschlager, Financial Times ‘Doig is an artist who tries to do what poets do with language, to capture images as retrieved in memory, not as they are but as we recall them’. – Adrian Hamilton, Independent ‘Thousands of people should see this essential show, a deep sensory and sensual wonderland which is as much conjured as it is painted.’ – Phil Miller, The Herald ‘Every scene implies some memory that cannot be dislodged, tinged with elusive significance; and his genius is for making these memories appear to belong to both himself and the viewer.’ – Laura Cumming, The Guardian
