Lazarides is the primary source of original artwork and prints for Antony Micallef, Faile, JR, Vhils, Stanley Donwood, Charlie Isoe, Mode 2, Paul Insect, Kelsey Brookes, Invader, Mark Jenkins, BAST, 3D, Jonathan Yeo, David Choe, Lucy McLauchlan, Jamie Hewlett, Miranda Donovan, and Zevs to name but a few.
Having operated for many years outside of the ‘conventional gallery system’, we now have several de facto galleries but do our best to remain unconventional.
Nonetheless, the art we sell certainly continues to defy categorisation as ‘graffiti’, ‘graphics’ or ‘street art’. We represent photographers, sculptors, agent provocateurs and even taxidermists. We’re honestly happy for you to call our pieces what you want: but we’ve recently appropriated the label ‘outsider art’. Like the proponents of the original ‘outsider’ and Art Brut movements, many of our artists aren’t formally trained. They draw heavily upon their own imaginations and popular culture. Plus a lot of their work goes on outside.
Our brand spanking new flagship on Rathbone Place in Fitzrovia houses the solo shows and has a private viewing spaces for new works as they appear throughout the year. The site was formerly a drinking den and brothel and as such goes hand in had with the gallery on Greek Street now called The Outsiders, the site of a former dealer in sadomasochistic paraphernalia. The Outsiders is a venue for the sale of affordable art: limited edition prints, books, originals, small sculptures and other objects. In 2007 we opened new premises outside of London – The Outsiders, Newcastle, opposite the Baltic Gallery. Part of the gallery space here is dedicated to showcasing new work from as yet unknown and independent artists; as well as the gallery’s usual timetable of solo and group exhibitions that has made the gallery’s name.
