Xavier Hufkens

Xavier Hufkens started his first gallery in October 1987 in a historic Brussels warehouse. During the first five years of our existence, the gallery focused on then emerging, international artists like Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Antony Gormley, Jessica Stockholder….

In 1992, the gallery moved to a 19th century townhouse in the Louise area, which was thoroughly renovated by Belgian architects Paul Robbrecht, Hilde Daem and Marie-José Van Hee. This move was accompanied by the additional representation of a number of established artists from Belgium and abroad like Jan Vercruysse, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Richard Artschwager…

In 1997, the gallery expanded to include the adjacent building.

Over the years, the gallery has continued to broaden its exhibition programme. Our selection remains focused on the authentic manner in which each, individual artist explores the domain of art, independently from his or her age, nationality, discipline or reputation.
