Beautification Committee Walk
This Saturday 20 May 2017 // 11am – 1pm

With Inspiral London and Sarah Pickstone
CGP London / The Gallery London

Join us for a walk around Southwark Park starting in the gallery garden looking at the original Southwark ‘beautification’ projects. This workshop led by artist Charlie Fox will investigate aspects of the beautiful corresponding & responding to Pickstone’s other stories exhibition.

The Beautification Committee, launched by Ada Salter in 1920, played a key role within Southwark, creating many of the green spaces, mature trees and landscaping schemes that form an integral part of the Borough’s current environment and feel. At the time ada salter proudly proclaimed: “the cultivation of flowers and trees is a civic duty.”

Support CGP London

In addition to the core funding from Arts Council England and Southwark Council, as a registered charity (no. 1073851) we rely on the financial support from individuals, trusts and foundations to present an ambitious programme of exhibitions, screening, events and learning activities.

Your support is essential, enabling us to keep commissioning and supporting artists at all stages of their careers to present challenging examples of contemporary art, whilst encouraging the next generation of artists through engaging educative programming within the local community.

In addition to active participation in Bermondsey Artists’ Group activities and promoting cgp london’s programme amongst artists, friends, families and neighbours, there are many other ways of supporting us through; starting or building your own art collections by purchasing artworks or limited editions, sponsoring a project, donations, or becoming a friend (coming soon).
