Sprovieri is proud to announce that
GIORGIO ANDREOTTA CALÒ – with ROBERTO CUOGHI and ADELITA HUSNI-BEY
Will represent ITALY, BRAZIL and UKRAINE at the 57th VENICE Biennale
The work conceived by GIORGIO ANDREOTTA CALÒ for the 57th Art Biennale is intended as a synthesis of his research – an intervention in dialogue with the original architecture of the pavilion. The installation will be located within a portion of the architectonical space, that of the second ‘Tesa’ adjacent to the Virgin’s Garden. The Italian Pavilion is curated by Cecilia Alemani.
CINTHIA MARCELLE will take as her starting point the Brazilian pavilion itself—a modernist building that has been altered over the decades by the artists exhibiting within. A new and site-specific project curated by Jochen Volz, commissioned and organized by the Fundação Bienal de São Paulo.
For the Ukrainian Pavilion BORIS MIKHAILOV will present a new series titled Parliament. This new body of work focuses on photography’s interaction with media interfaces, and the interplay between analogue and digital representation. The project is curated by Peter Doroshenko and Lilia Kudelia – Executive Director and Assistant Curator at Dallas Contemporary – and commissioned by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
